Korean Language

The human civilization has spawned countless languages and cultures. Everyday you come across a lot of new things and words and today we will try to know something that is exciting and becoming very popular. It is the Korean language which we will try to explore a bit today. By using the term 'will try to know a bit' I want to make you understand that the Korean language is so very vast and wide that probably it will not be possible for us to know each and every thing about this language. This language is spoken by almost 80 million people in the whole world taking in account those living in China, United State, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Canada, Philippines etc and mainly in Korea.

Korean is used in the entire Korea whether it is the South Korea or North Korea. It's true that the languages of both the countries differ on certain grounds but they are based on the main Korean language only. There are lots of histories and sayings about this language. People use to say that this is a part of the Altaic language, while some other says that this is an isolated language and has no connection with any other languages. One thing else about this language is that it has been influenced by the Chinese languages. Whatever the language, whether it be Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese or Korean every language has its own origin and beauty.

"Bang", wait have you misunderstood the term? You better not because it is just a Korean word and the English meaning of this is "room". Similarly there are lots more interesting and amazing words to be known and I can give you a good list of them along with the meanings. One thing I want to remind you that these are just the pronunciation of the words and not the written one and you better not try to learn Korean writing so soon because this will need a good attention and intention too. So, let's first try to know the oral words only in which we have-'mal' ( horse ), 'dal' (moon), 'nal' (day), 'ttal' (daughter), 'jal' (well) etc if you are more interested yet you can learn a lot more about them through books and websites.

The Korean language has five dialects out of which four are used in the South Korea and the remaining one in the North Korea. These dialects are different from each other only on one ground, i.e., the use of stress. Each dialect uses different stresses on different places. This language as a whole has 24 letters or 'Hangul' as it is said to be. The modern Korean writing has changed a lot from that of the traditional one with changes in the punctuation. The difference is that the words are now written with spaces in between and this feature makes it different from the Chinese and Japanese languages.

I think the information and references that I gave you is enough for you to learn Korean reading but the thing is will be able to speak in Korean now. Visiting Korea will be a big problem if you do not know certain general terms of greeting people say for example, 'hello', 'thank-you', 'good morning', 'sorry' etc. Somehow if you think that they will be helpful for you, simply log in to the Korean language learning sites and there you will get audio tips on several such words. This is all what we can discuss in short about the language and I am sure that you find exploring the Korean language and culture a thoroughly pleasurable experience.
