Therefore, before going to the North Korean language as a whole, let's have a look at the minor differences between the two. For your better understanding of the matter I am giving you an example. The North Koreans write a word as 'neoptta' and pronounces it as 'nopta', while the South Koreans writes it as 'neolta' and pronounces as 'nolta'. These words are used with different spelling and pronunciation but the meaning of both the words are same; it means 'wide'. The country North Korea is situated in the northern part of the Korean Peninsula and is in the border of China and Russia. Every Korean person speaks his or her mother tongue and the number of Korean speaking people in the area is almost 72 million. It is not that this language is spoken in the Korean region only. There are people in other countries too who uses this language as their first language. For Example, I can tell you about the two million people staying in China, another two million in the USA, 500,000 in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan where there are Russian regions and 700,000 people in Japan. Thus, the data mentioned above shows that the Korean language is spread in almost all the parts of the world.

The North Korean language has only one dialect. It means that the dialect used in North Korea is basically for that whole particular region only. Whatever the differences, one thing is very clear that this dialect is somehow similar with that of the other myriad Korean dialects and therefore is easily understood by any person belonging to any region of the country. The Korean alphabets are called as the "hangul" consisting of 24 letters. Out of these 24 letters, 14 are consonants and 10 are vowels.
